WINE FACTS One of the finest white wine grapes, used for the great wines of the Rhine and the Mosel in Germany, Riesling grapes are also responsible for some of the best white wines of Alsace in France. The wine is of brilliant sweet/acid balance, very drinkable when young, and maturing to oily scents and flavors. This delicious varietal is again enjoying a great following in California, Michigan, Australia and is also harvested in many other locations around the world. It is one of the few grape varieties susceptible to the “noble mold” and thus ideal for superb, lusciously sweet wines made from late harvest grapes. Often thought to be a sweeter wine, Rieslings now run the gamut from semi-sweet to bone dry. Great for sipping and very complementary with many styles of foods; a little sweetness goes a long way. This wine has character without the high alcohol content.
